Community service

SDG 4

The community service proposed by the researcher is part of the implementation of science and technology in the community. This is important to do as part of realizing the role of universities in implementing the tri dharma. In 2021, researchers will implement an Indonesian language socialization program to improve language skills, strengthen politeness culture, and manage Indonesian public libraries in Ngadilangkung Village, Malang Regency. This program has an impact on strengthening science and technology in the field of literacy and the existence of the Indonesian language.

This series of service program activities repairs the library in Ngadilangkung Village, Kepanjen District, Malang Regency. The library is called the Sehati Library. The first thing to do is to check the location of the Sehati library. Researchers see how the situation and condition of the library, is it feasible to be a comfortable reading place for the people of Ngadilangkung Village. After checking, the researcher saw that there were several things that needed to be rearranged, namely bookshelves and book data. In addition, the researcher also applied for a book grant to the National Library of Indonesia in order to complete the readings at the Sehati Library. After obtaining the book, the researcher cleaned and redecorated the library such as arranging the layout of the library to make it a comfortable library, painting the walls to make it look clean, decorating the library so that people were interested in reading in the library, and so on. After decorating the library, the researcher began to classify books using predetermined codes. This classification is in order to make it easier for people who will read the book and find the book they want. After the classification is done, the researcher carries out the final stage, namely recording and collecting data on all available books.

Activities carried out regarding Research and Community Service Funds for PNBP State University of Malang in 2021 include a survey of activity locations in Ngadilangkung Village, Kepanjen District, Malang Regency and at the Sehati Library of Ngadilangkung Village, Kepanjen District, Malang Regency. Then, carry out the process of cleaning the Sehati Library, tidying up the books in the Sehati Library, redecorating the Sehati Library, repairing the Sehati Library’s bookshelves, and classifying the Sehati Library books. The final activity of this research is the implementation of training in the existence of the Indonesian language, culture of politeness, and library management.
