Rount Maulero, a student of German Literature at UM became the Indonesian delegate at the International Pasch Alumni Conference (Partner der Zukunft) on June 1 to 15, 2021. The Goethe Institute, Pasch, and the German Indonesian Embassy agreed to hold the second International Pasch Alumni conference in June 2021. Unlike the first offline conference, this time the second conference was held online via the Zoom platform. The theme of this conference is Project Management. It is hoped that each delegation will be able to produce sustainable projects in the German language field.
This conference was attended by several countries including Indonesia with 12 delegates, Vietnam with one delegation, Thailand and Singapore with one board, Australia with two representatives, and one delegate from New Zealand. Most are German language students or students currently studying in Germany. As the Indonesian delegate, Rount Maulero was full of enthusiasm and gratitude. The activities started with the presentation of ideas from each delegation, group discussions, and the production of material from experts namely Mathias Haberl from Austria and Eliza Skowron from Poland who worked in the Working Between Cultures Organization. Together with 11 delegates from Indonesia, Rount brought Indonesia’s good name into the international arena.
The selection is that each participant is part of a German partner school with a German language proficiency level B1 with a minimum predicate of Good or Good. In addition, each delegate was asked to make a video, “How has PASCH changed my life?” And from the number of registered participants, the entire delegation of each country received 17 people with two presenters. So this conference was attended by 19 people.
According to Rount, the preparations were extensive because he had been waiting for this opportunity for a long time so he hoped to be an Indonesian delegate at this conference. He made the video as best and as much as possible, of course, German language skills are the main thing. That’s why he kept practicing to improve my German skills. And do not forget to ask for prayers from parents so that all hopes and wishes can be facilitated by Allah SWT.
As he said at the beginning, he was one of the youngest delegates, still in semester 4, because most of the other delegates came from S2, even S3 students. Therefore he was very grateful to have this opportunity. Meeting great people from various countries, increasing international relations, and being able to bring Indonesia’s good name into the international arena is incomparable gratitude. According to Rount Maulero, in every step of his life, none other than according the path that Allah has given. My job is to try, pray, and be grateful for all the opportunities He has given me.”
