SDG 4

The Dance and Music Education students at Universitas Negeri Malang recently participated in a pantomime workshop, aimed at enriching their creative learning experience while promoting the principles of quality education as outlined in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4. Pantomime, a silent performance art form that uses gestures and expressions to convey meaning, was chosen for its ability to develop non-verbal communication skills and foster creativity.

The workshop provided students with an opportunity to explore new ways of expressing ideas, emotions, and narratives without relying on speech. This experience allowed participants to think critically, improve body awareness, and enhance their ability to communicate through movement—skills that are essential for both educators and performers. By engaging in pantomime, students also learned to appreciate diverse forms of artistic expression, encouraging inclusivity and promoting cultural understanding.

In alignment with SDG 4, the workshop emphasized the importance of providing a well-rounded education that goes beyond academic learning. It highlighted how the arts can be used as a tool for developing creativity, problem-solving abilities, and emotional intelligence. Additionally, the workshop underscored the need for accessible and equitable education in the arts, ensuring that all students, regardless of background, have the opportunity to explore their full potential.

This pantomime workshop serves as a model for integrating creative arts into educational curricula, demonstrating how quality arts education can foster personal and professional development, and contribute to a more inclusive and empowered future generation.
