The International Conference on Arts, Design, Education, and Cultural Studies (ICADECS) 2024, held at Universitas Negeri Malang, will explore how arts and design can contribute to sustainability. One of the event’s keynote speakers, Ari Dharminalan Rudenko, Ph.D. (Cand), will focus on the role of creative education in promoting SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
In his presentation, Rudenko will discuss how arts and design can inspire more sustainable consumer behaviors and production practices. By using creative methods, designers and educators can raise awareness about overconsumption, waste, and environmental impact. Rudenko will present examples of innovative design projects, such as eco-friendly packaging, upcycled products, and sustainable fashion, which have shifted consumer habits towards more responsible choices.
Rudenko will also highlight the importance of integrating sustainability into design education. By teaching students how to create products with minimal environmental impact, educational institutions can cultivate a new generation of designers who prioritize sustainability in their work. He will showcase successful case studies where students have used arts and design to develop practical solutions for reducing waste and promoting resource efficiency.
Aligned with the ICADECS 2024 theme, “Reimagining Education through Arts and Design for Sustainable Futures,” Rudenko’s talk will emphasize the critical role of creative education in advancing SDG 12. The conference will provide a platform for participants to engage in discussions, workshops, and exhibitions on how the arts can drive responsible consumption and production, ultima
