Inequality in access to quality education remains a major challenge in many regions, including Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. One effective way to reduce the gap is through improving the quality of arts education, which can provide more equal opportunities for all students to develop their potential. The exploration of cooperation in training for Arts and Culture teachers, carried out by the Department of Art and Design, State University of Malang on May 15, 2024, is a strategic step in supporting the achievement of Reducing Inequality.
Through this training, Arts and Culture teachers in Penajam Paser will be equipped with the latest knowledge and skills in creative and innovative teaching methods. This aims to ensure that every student, regardless of socio-economic background, has equal access to quality arts education. Inclusive and quality arts education can open up opportunities for students to explore their talents and creativity, which in turn can increase their confidence and ability to compete in the world of work. In addition, by holding this activity at State University of Malang, it is hoped that a strong partnership can be established between higher education institutions and schools in remote areas.
This collaboration enables the transfer of knowledge and resources, which is crucial in addressing educational gaps. Trained teachers can implement more effective and engaging teaching methods, which can increase students’ interest and achievement in the arts. Ultimately, this training activity not only focuses on improving teacher competency, but also seeks to create a more inclusive and equitable learning environment. Thus, it is hoped that the gap in access to quality education can be significantly reduced, giving every student an equal opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.
