Cooperation, increasing the competence of students of SMK Animation skills, Fine Arts Teacher Training (KSR) State University of Malang -SMKN 11 Malang – Malang Illustrator and Comic Artist (MICA)

After establishing the animation expertise competency as a center of excellence (PK) by the Director General of Vocational, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. The steps are to strengthen and increase cooperation with industry and the community.

The cooperation is shown to strengthen the link and match and increase the competence of SMKN 11 Malang students, especially the animation skill competency. The program begins with collaboration with the community through an MOU with Malang Illustrator and Comic Artis (MICA) with a duration of cooperation of 1 year.
Postgraduate Master of Fine Arts at the State University of Malang was present as the initiator. The activity collaborates with vocational schools with the community to develop vocational school students’ potential, competence, and skills, especially SMKN 11 Malang.
Material related to the development of the creative industry with the title “Increasing Career Opportunities for Malang Illustrators and Comic Artists (MICA) in the Creative Industry through Skill Development in the Field of Animation” was delivered by postgraduate students of Fine Arts, Kadek Sumanggala, Denny Hendrifika and Bambang Hermanto who were accompanied directly by the supervisor and at the same time the Head of the Department of Art and Design, Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang; DR. Wida Rahayuningtyas, M.Pd.

The cooperation of SMKN 11 MICA through the Gathering and Sharing scheme with SMKN 11 Malang through a joint work implementation scheme between Postgraduate students of UM Fine Arts, SMKN 11 Malang, and MICA. The activity is designed for one year, from 2022 to 2023.
In the future, it is hoped that KSR UM students will accompany the implementation of workshops and training as contributors in providing material in activities to improve the competence and skills of vocational students.

Present at the seminar as well as the signing of the MoU on June 25, 2022; Principal of SMKN 11 Malang; Suhari, M.Pd, Chairperson of MICA; Muhammad Rita Mauludin, Head of the Department of Art and Design, State University of Malang; Dr. Wida Rahayuningtyas, M.Pd., and Lecturer of the Department of Art and Design Mr. Dimas Sevica.
The seminar was well attended and followed up with preparing a schedule and animation training materials for one year. This is undoubtedly very beneficial for SMK students in the future.
