Working Visit and Assistance for Student Return for Assistance Program Teaching in Thailand in 2022 in Krabi, Thailand

In this activity, a delegation of lecturer teams from the Department of English Literature and the Department of Indonesian Literature comprised Dr. Karkono, S.S., M.A., Yusnita Febrianti S.Pd., M.A., Ph.D., and Moh. Safii, S.Kom, M.Hum made a working visit to junior and senior high schools in the Krabi area, Thailand, as a series of Teaching Assistance (AM) Programs in Thailand. The activity, which took place on August 19, 2022 – August 25, 2022, aims to accompany the return of AM student participants in Krabi Thailand and carry out workshop activities for junior and senior high school teachers in the Krabi Thailand area, in addition to visiting schools where the AM program is implemented.
The activities carried out were Innovative Learning Strategy Using Training for junior and senior high school teachers in the Krabi area, Thailand, namely Audio-Visual Media Training for junior and senior high school teachers in the Krabi area, Thailand by Dr. Karkono, S.S., M.A., Training Optimizing the Use of Visual and Verbal Resources in English Textbooks for Lower Secondary Levels by Yusnita Febrianti, S.Pd., M.A., Ph.D, and Information Search Strategies Training by Moh. Safii, S.Kom, M.Hum. In addition, the UM delegation also assisted in the return of UM students who carried out the Teaching Assistance program in schools in the Krabi area, Thailand.
Activities in Krabi, Thailand, began on August 22, 2022. The group of lecturers was received at the Eakkapapsasanawich Islamic School Hall in Krabi, Thailand. The group was received by the President of the Association of Education Cultural International (AECI), Mr. Takeem Kundee, and the Secretary of AECI, Mr. Amran bin Ismail. The 19 students who participated in the teaching assistance were divided into 13 schools, and according to the agreement, they were delivered directly to Krabi International Airport at 10:00 local time. Activities on that day also expressed their gratitude for the cooperation between AECI and the UM Faculty of Letters that has been established so far. Certificates were symbolically handed over by the three teaching assistance students at Eakkapapsasanawich Islamic School Krabi Thailand.

The training delivered by Dr. Karkono, S.S., M.A. is a practical training that provides knowledge for junior high school teachers to use various game activities in teaching. This training involved the teachers trying out educational and strategic games directly. Thus, it is expected that the trainees can use the games for teaching and learning activities in the classroom. This type of game centers on how children can think to solve a problem. In this case, teachers can utilize gadgets such as smartphones to maximize learning.

Yusnita Febrianti conducted the following training from the Department of English Literature, FS UM, who provided training on optimizing the use of images in preparing English textbooks. In this material, the trainees have explained the role of images in delivering material in English books for junior high school students. Images in textbooks are usually designed in such a way as to function optimally. The photos serve to develop English language skills, including the role in developing visual literacy.

The next training was by Moh. Safii, S.Kom, M.Hum from the FS UM Digital Library Study Program, who provided training on online information searches. In this material, trainees have explained the importance of information literacy, competencies/skills that must be possessed in the 21st century, including Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, Creativity and innovation skills, Cross-cultural understanding skills, Collaboration/teamwork and leadership skills, Communications/information & media literacy skills, Computing & ICT literacy skills, Career & learning skills. Competency/skill deepening is provided for Computing ICT literacy skills with the topic of online information search strategies.
Picture 5. Visit the Banglongrua School Teaching Assistance school site
The activity of visiting schools in the Krabi area, starting with Banglongrua School. Here, two students carry out Teaching Assistance Practice activities: Mila Lailatur Rifah and Najwa Anindita Witayu Arditi. The students, teachers, and principal welcomed our arrival at Banglongrua School. The activities carried out at this school are to get input as long as students from UM carry out AM activities for one month and to thank the school for its cooperation. The following is documentation of activities at Banglongrua School.

The second school visited was Jazirahpithayanusorn School. Two UM students carry out AM activities: Naufal Yuan Nabila Dimas Bagus Firmandy. Activities carried out at Jazirahpithayanusorn School are discussions with the principal regarding the AM program that will be implemented at the school.
