Successfully Implementing ICT-Based Learning Media Training, German Language Teacher at Ex-Residency Besuki Expects Further Training
In this era of disruption, the Department of German Literature, Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang has successfully carried out training on the introduction of various interactive media that can make learning more interesting for students. The Chairperson of the Activities, Mrs. Lilis Afifah, a German language lecturer at State University of Malang, explained that this learning media training started from the less than optimal use of information technology-based media in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He saw that there are several factors that influence learning. Among them is the problem of the availability of the internet network which is still a major problem for teachers and students. In addition, the teacher revealed that they did not know much about learning applications. And mastered to be applied in online classes. Especially regarding operating internet-based electronic devices.”We consider this issue to be followed up. This is because teachers in the Besuki Ex-Residency have never received training from the academic community at the university level,” said Mrs. Lilis (22/9). “By providing training to teachers through this series of stages, it is hoped that students will also feel the learning that gives meaning and also its own impression,” he continued.
In this training, the Wordwall application was chosen as one of the interactive media that teachers can use. Serves to teach German vocabulary to students. At the same time, monitoring student activity and understanding of online learning.
The quiz form that is owned by Wordwall is not only interactive but can be accessed with an internet connection. But it can also be presented in printed form.
This interactive media creation training activity for vocabulary learning is designed with a blended mode, a combination of online and offline methods. However, because of the PPKM policy in Java-Bali, this activity began with online training. This training is supported by using the Zoom Meeting application on July 10, 2021 with the host from the implementation team in Malang.
“The first training was attended by 15 German language teachers who are members of the Besuki Raya Subject Teacher Conference (MGMP), which includes the cities of Situbondo, Bondowoso, Jember, Lumajang, and Banyuwangi, under the coordination of the Chair of the MGMP, Dra. Eka Kusriyati”, said Mrs. Lilis.
Introduction of Interactive Media with Wordwall Applications Becomes the Focus of Activities On that occasion, the focus of the activity was the introduction of interactive media with the Wordwall application for learning German vocabulary. After passing the media introduction activity, participants received assistance in making quizzes. This quiz with Match up, Group Sort, Labeled Diagram, and Maze Chase templates. Teachers were also asked to produce quizzes independently. According to the theme of self-identity (IdentitÓ“t), life at school (Schulleben), and family (Familie).
It did not stop there, the second training was also held on September 18, 2021, offline at SMAN 2 Situbondo. Participants were introduced to different templates at the meeting, namely Unjumble, Balloon Pop, and Random Wheel. From this series of training activities, the responses received from the participants were excellent. They argue that their skills in producing ICT-based learning media have increased through this activity. In addition, the Wordwall media they just learned is believed to attract students to be more active in the learning process because the game model is varied and not boring. In the future, further training related to learning media will be held. Where not only interactive but also easy to make and effective for learning.
