On 19th April 2024, Self Access Center (SAC) Indonesia held an engaging event titled “Malampas Bayawa” on the 8th floor of building A20, aimed at teaching the Javanese script as a means to promote cultural heritage and reduce inequality. This event welcomed participants of all genders and from various academic departments, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in cultural education. By providing a platform for diverse voices to engage with traditional writing systems, SAC Indonesia aims to break down barriers that often prevent marginalized groups from accessing and contributing to cultural heritage.
During the event, attendees learned the Javanese script through hands-on activities and discussions about its historical significance. This knowledge serves as a vital tool for preserving cultural identity, particularly for those who may feel disconnected from their heritage due to social or economic disparities.
“Malampas Bayawa” not only highlights the importance of cultural preservation but also fosters a sense of belonging and empowerment among participants. By actively involving individuals from different backgrounds, the event seeks to ensure that all voices are heard and valued in the conversation about Indonesia’s cultural legacy.
Through initiatives like this, SAC Indonesia is dedicated to reducing inequalities within cultural education, promoting an inclusive approach that celebrates diversity and fosters unity among communities.
