Self Access Center (SAC) Indonesia held a special event titled “Malampas Bayawa” on the 8th floor of building A20, aimed at promoting the preservation of Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage through the teaching of Javanese script. This event aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, which emphasizes the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage as a key part of building resilient and sustainable communities.
Participants, including students and cultural enthusiasts, learned how to write in Javanese script through interactive workshops and guided practice. The event served not only as a way to revitalize traditional writing systems but also as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of cultural preservation in an increasingly modernized society.
Through Malampas Bayawa, SAC Indonesia aims to inspire younger generations to appreciate and maintain their cultural roots. By teaching the Javanese script, the event seeks to protect this important aspect of Indonesia’s identity and ensure that it continues to be passed down to future generations. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable communities that honor and protect their cultural history while adapting to modern challenges.
The event also fostered discussions on the role of cultural heritage in creating a sense of belonging and pride within communities, making it a significant contribution to the promotion of inclusive, safe, and sustainable cities that embrace their historical richness.
