DEPARTMENT OF GERMAN LITERATURE UM HOLDS TRAINING ON PREPARATION OF ONLINE LEARNING ASSESSMENT FOR TEACHERS
Learning during a pandemic requires teachers’ creativity to present exciting questions or exercises, easy to assess and easy to provide feedback. For this reason, the Department of German Literature, State University of Malang (UM) with the Malang branch of the German-Indonesian Language Teachers Association (IGBJI) held a training on the preparation of learning and assessment of online learning.
This training activity is a form of community service under the umbrella of the sustainable professional training program (PPKB) launched by State University of Malang.
Dr. Primardiana H. Wijayati, M.Pd, let all activities be explained, this training has been held since May 6, 2021, and has been carried out six consecutive times every month until October 16, 2021. This training involved 35 German language teachers from all over Malang Raya, covering the city of Malang, Malang regency, and Batu City.
The main purpose of this activity is to assist German language teachers in compiling interesting online learning instruments using the Proprofs, Wordwall, and Exammi platforms. “The training is expected to help teachers prepare good learning and assessment instruments,” he said on Tuesday (19/10/2021). Dr. Primardiana added that the implementation team had trained teachers on this occasion to make questions using the Proprofs application for three types of questions, namely multiple choice, true-false, essays, hotspots, Hangman games, and the preparation of rubrics for assessing writing and speaking skills.
The training results show that online assessment training can increase teacher references in choosing an instrument preparation platform. Some of the advantages of Proprofs such as certificate facilities, answer critical scores, incorrect answer information, and student answer recapitulation, are considered to make it easier for teachers to evaluate learning, especially during this pandemic. In addition, teachers have the skills to compile rubrics to assess writing and speaking skills.
Through this training activity, it is hoped that German teachers will gain additional knowledge on how to prepare test instruments in online learning and assess them. “The Department of German Literature will organize similar activities, State University of Malang, periodically with themes that are relevant to the needs of teachers as a form of community service, which is one of the elements of the tri dharma of higher education, in addition to carrying out education and teaching, and research,” explained Dr. Primardiana.
