Supporting the Independent Campus Program policy by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Technology (Kemdikburistek), State University of Malang (UM) develops Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) programs in each study program in the undergraduate program.The program consists of eight excellent programs, namely building thematic villages / Real Work Lectures (KKN), internships / work practices, teaching assistance in schools, independent studies, and research. In addition, there are programs of entrepreneurial activities, student exchanges, and humanitarian projects. To join the program, students just need to register and choose the activities they want
“Among them are through internships, Thematic KKN, and teaching assistance in schools,” dewi said to TIMES Indonesia, Wednesday (4/8/2021).
Dewi explained, one example of an internship was carried out by a number of JSJ UM students at PT Germany Indonesia Professionals (GIP) in Bekasi. PT GIP is a company in the field of education that focuses on Language, Academic S1 & S2, Ausbildung, Cultural Exchange and Travel Education programs.
In this company, which was founded in 2012, the internship students are spread across several divisions, namely the Teaching and Language division, the Administration and Business Development division and the Marketing division. Interns participated in various projects led by the CEO of PT. GIP, Alwien Parahita, M.Sc.The next Merdeka Belajar activity by German students of UM is the Thematic KKN. One of the Thematic KKN was held in Jaticempaka Village, Pondok Gede District, Bekasi, West Java. “In the Thematic KKN activities, KKN member students carry out service in the village and several other work programs, such as introducing German to elementary school students in the location,” he said.
In addition to internships in companies and Thematic KKN, German students also carry out teaching assistance activities in schools that have German and or Chinese language courses. In teaching assistance activities, students through civil service teachers learn to prepare and manage learning. They learn to make lesson plans, prepare learning materials, and practice teaching in the classroom online.
Dewi added that the Merdeka Belajar activity that has been carried out by JSJ UM is expected to be able to participate in supporting the Kemdikbudristek program in an effort to improve the competence of graduates, both soft skills and hard skills, to be more prepared and relevant to the needs of the times, preparing graduates as future leaders of the nation who are superior and have personalities.”The experiential learning programs in the Merdeka Belajar program are also expected to be able to facilitate German students, State University of Malang to develop their potential in accordance with their passion and talents,” he said.
