German Department UM Standardization of Language Proficiency CEFR

German Department State University of Malang (UM) follows the Standardization of Language Skills based on The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) Standard, Thursday (9/12/2021). The German Language Competency Test at B1 level European linguistic standard The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) Deutsch Certificate takes offline at German Department Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang (UM).
This exam is a collaboration between the Department of German Literature, Faculty of Letters UM with Wisma German Surabaya and the Goethe-Institut Indonesien Education Cooperation Sector.The examinees comprised 25 students of the UM German Language Education study program class from 2018 to 2020. The test team came from Wisma Germany Surabaya, an internationally certified Goethe Institute examiner.

If they pass the exam, the student will later receive a German language certificate level B1 which demonstrates language competence in reading (Lesen), listening (Hören), writing (Schreiben), and speaking (Sprechen) skills. Several preparations were held before the exam as a form of support from the Department of German Literature UM to students taking the exam. All students must take a simulated exam (oral and written) supervised directly by two lecturers in the Department of German Literature at UM. It aims to prepare students to be able to take the B1 exam to the maximum. The other preparation is the Anti Gene Swab test, one of the requirements to comply with the health protocol. Implementing the B1 exam takes the Covid-19 health protocol very seriously so that the exam runs smoothly and safely. Participants and examiners are also required to wear masks during the exam.

Each exam room is equipped with hand sanitizers and masks, and participant seats have been arranged in accordance with physical distancing provisions. The B1 exam is divided into two sessions, namely the written and oral exam sessions. The written exam session lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes in the AVA hall of the Faculty of Letters UM. Meanwhile, the oral exam session was held at Building D17 on the 2nd floor in 3 different rooms: two exam rooms and one preparation room. Both written and oral exams have been conducted in a conducive and smooth manner. The German language proficiency test at B1 level is a minimum requirement that JSJ FS UM students must possess as a candidate for a German Language Education degree. Through the German language certificate level B1, the quality standard of language proficiency of JSJ UM students can be achieved and the certificate can be used for work, continuing studies or participating in training programs in Germany.
