SDG 4

MISI (Motivation, Inspiration, Education) is one of the annual work programs in the field of Character Education and Religious Life, Indonesian Literature Association, State University of Malang. This activity is an effort to carry out the Tri Dharma of higher education in the fields of Character Education and Religious Life. MISI (Motivation, Inspiration, Education) activities take the form of seminars with the theme “Generation Z: The Role of Students as Agents of National Change in the Middle of a Disruptive Era”. With this activity, it is hoped that the objectives of the event will be achieved and in accordance with what has been expected. MISI (Motivation, Inspiration, Education) activities were held online in September with a series of events. This activity involves all active students majoring in literature and lecturers.

The students as the younger generation were expected to become agents of change who lead the generation to a better direction through their knowledge, ideas, and skills. Before that, students needed to adapt to situations and conditions that often change with the development of this era. The formation of student character was very much needed to support adaptation in the disruptive era, considering that in this era not only aspects of information and communication technology are affected but social conditions are also affected so that it is not uncommon for deviant relationships to occur in society. Therefore, a student must be educated both academically and non-academically to be adaptive and cooperative in dealing with the hustle and bustle of this disruptive era.

Documentation: [MISI activity by online meeting]

The current situation and conditions where the COVID-19 pandemic limits students’ spaced to innovate, compete, and even adapted to the outside world made it not uncommon for some students to experience demotivation or lose motivation in carrying out their obligations as students because all activities are carried out online. It is undeniable that inspiration is also difficult to get because of the boredom experienced by students because they are too long in the house. Even education, which at first could be obtained directly anywhere, is now not as much as what was obtained before the pandemic.

The series of MISI events (Motivation, Inspiration, Education) included providing motivation, inspiration, and education to all students, then followed by the introduction of the study program to students which will be delivered by the lecturer. This MISI (Motivation, Inspiration, Education) activity was carried out so that new students got supplies of knowledge before entering their study period as students. In addition, students could be goten to know the study program they have chosen more deeply. Providing motivation, innovation, education and the introduction of study programs, this MISI (Motivation, Inspiration, Education) activity would also introduce the Indonesian Literature Department Student Association to new students.
