SDG 10

The International Conference on Arts, Design, Education, and Cultural Studies (ICADECS) 2024, hosted by Universitas Negeri Malang, will explore how creative practices can help reduce social and economic inequalities. Ari Dharminalan Rudenko, Ph.D. (Cand), will deliver a keynote presentation on the role of arts and design in advancing SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

Rudenko will discuss how arts and design can empower marginalized communities by giving them a voice and platform for expression. By using art as a medium, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds can share their stories, challenge societal norms, and advocate for their rights. Rudenko will highlight projects where creative initiatives have helped bridge gaps between different social groups, fostering inclusion and understanding.

His presentation will include examples of community-based art projects that have brought attention to issues like poverty, racial discrimination, and the lack of access to education and healthcare. These projects have not only raised awareness but have also created tangible change by mobilizing communities and influencing policymakers.

Rudenko will also focus on the importance of inclusive design—creating products, services, and environments that cater to diverse populations, regardless of age, gender, disability, or socio-economic status. He will emphasize how integrating inclusive design into education can equip students with the skills to address inequality through creative solutions.

Aligned with the ICADECS 2024 theme, “Reimagining Education through Arts and Design for Sustainable Futures,” Rudenko’s talk will highlight how creative education can play a pivotal role in reducing inequalities. Participants will explore strategies for using arts and design to foster a more inclusive and equitable society.
