The Indonesian Traditional Music Conservation and Innovation Workshop or Lokovasia 2024 organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) in collaboration with the Musike SJ Foundation aims to preserve and innovate the richness of Indonesia’s traditional music heritage. The week-long Lokovasia will be held on 1-7 September 2024 at the Audio Visual Hall, Building D14, State University of Malang.
This workshop will involve students from the Department of Dance and Music Education, State University of Malang and other participants. The event will end with a peak performance held on the evening of 6 and 7 September 2024 at UBTV, focusing on efforts to align traditional music conservation efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals, especially to Reduce Inequality.
Through collaborative sessions, discussions, and performances, participants will explore the role of traditional music in promoting social inclusion, cultural diversity, and equality. The workshop aims to encourage the preservation of Indonesian traditional music and its creative evolution, ensuring that traditional music remains a living and dynamic part of the nation’s cultural identity, easily accessible and relevant for future generations.
