SDG 12

In a modern era dominated by technological developments, the need for responsible consumption and production is increasingly urgent. The 6th International Conference on Art, Design, Education, and Cultural Studies (ICA DECS 2024) held by Universitas Negeri Malang, offers a critical discourse on how technology can serve as a bridge connecting tradition with modern innovation in art and design, while supporting the sustainable development goal, Responsible Consumption and Production.

In this context, art and design have an important role in encouraging sustainable practices. The creative process often involves the use of natural resources and materials that have the potential to damage the environment if not managed properly. Through the synergy between technology and tradition, this conference promotes a new approach to more responsible creative production. Modern technology allows us to utilize resources more efficiently, reduce waste, and extend the life cycle of materials.

In addition, the incorporation of tradition into contemporary design not only enriches works of art but also emphasizes local values and sustainability. Thus, ICA DECS 2024 seeks to promote more sustainable consumption and production patterns among artists, designers, and educators, by prioritizing innovations that respect tradition and maintain the balance of the ecosystem. This event not only celebrates the collaboration between technology and tradition but also encourages all participants to apply sustainability principles in every aspect of their creative process, in line with the global vision of achieving responsible consumption and production.
