In an increasingly global and complex world, the values of tolerance, diversity, and inclusivity are becoming increasingly important to create peace and justice. The 6th International Conference on Art, Design, Education, and Cultural Studies (ICA DECS 2024) at Universitas Negeri Malang, with the theme “Creative Synergy between Technology & Tradition in Art, Design, and Education,” emphasized the importance of art and design as a tool to promote Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Art and design have the unique ability to cross cultural boundaries, create inclusive dialogue spaces, and unite different perspectives.
Through artworks, we can explore and understand cultural diversity, overcome prejudice, and build bridges between different communities. In this context, technology acts as a catalyst that enables cross-cultural collaboration and the spread of messages of peace globally. By presenting resource persons Prof. Dr. Badrul Isa from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia, who will discuss “Technology as a Bridge between Past and Future in Art and Design Education,” ICA DECS 2024 seeks to strengthen art education institutions that are not only innovative, but also inclusive and equitable.
This activity promotes the values of tolerance by creating an environment that supports intercultural dialogue and collaboration. In addition, ICA DECS 2024 serves as a platform to strengthen educational institutions and art communities in their efforts to support peace and justice through creative and diversity-based approaches. Thus, ICA DECS 2024 is not just a conference, but a real step towards a more peaceful and inclusive world.
