On May 28, 2024, the Head of the Dance Education Program from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), along with their team, visited Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) to explore collaboration opportunities for training activities aimed at cultural arts teachers. This initiative seeks to enhance the quality of arts education by emphasizing the importance of making cities and settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
The discussion at Universitas Negeri Malang focused on designing a training program that equips teachers with innovative teaching methods and creative techniques relevant to urban needs. Cultural arts teachers will be introduced to various pedagogical approaches that can help them create a dynamic and inspiring learning environment for their students. The program also includes training in the use of digital technology and new media in arts education, which is expected to increase student engagement and enrich their learning experience.
Furthermore, this exploration of collaboration involves active participation from faculty members, students, and other stakeholders. By building synergy between UNNES and UM, it is hoped that a training program will be created that not only provides direct benefits to teachers and students but also contributes to the development of local culture and arts that support sustainable cities and communities.
The commitment is to ensure that everyone lives in inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and settlements. Through this collaboration, cultural arts teachers will be better prepared to inspire and educate the younger generation, equipping them with the skills needed to face future challenges. The program also promotes inclusivity by providing access to quality education for all students, including those in remote areas.
Overall, the visit of the Head of the Dance Education Program from UNNES and their team to Universitas Negeri Malang represents a significant step in improving the quality of arts education in Indonesia and supporting sustainable development goals. By facilitating training for cultural arts teachers, both universities are contributing to the development of better and more sustainable human resources.
