On Saturday, July 20 2024, SDN 2 Sumberejo in Malang Regency held a community service activity with the theme “Cinema Project Training to Improve Critical Thinking and Collaboration for Elementary School Students.” In this activity, Yurina Gusanti, S.Sn, M.Sn, was present as the main resource person.
Yurina Gusanti S.Sn, M.Sn, an arts expert who has a Bachelor and Master of Arts degree, provides training to students regarding the use of theater as a learning medium. In this session, he explains how theater can be an effective tool for developing critical thinking and collaboration skills among elementary school students.
He explained that through theater, students are invited to understand and explore various characters, situations and emotions. This helps them develop analytical and reflective skills, which are important components of critical thinking. Apart from that, theater activities that require teamwork also encourage students to learn to collaborate, communicate and solve problems together.
This training involves a variety of practical activities, such as role-playing and improvisational exercises, designed to foster students’ creativity and innovation. Yurina Gusanti S. Sn, M.Sn, emphasized that by involving students in theater activities, they not only learn about acting but also gain life skills that are useful in the future. This activity received a warm welcome from students and teachers at SDN 2 Sumberejo. They hope that training like this can continue to be held to provide sustainable benefits for student development.
