SDG 11

From July 1-4, 2024, the Visual Communication Design (DKV) Program at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) initiated a collaboration with Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Denpasar and Studio Brownbag. This partnership aims to support the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and develop pioneering Teaching Industry projects at DKV UM.

The collaboration with ISI Denpasar and Studio Brownbag is expected to positively impact the quality of education and learning at DKV UM. The exchange of knowledge and best practices allows students to learn from experienced industry professionals and academics. This enriches their learning experience and provides deep insights into how visual communication design can be applied in the context of sustainable urban development.

The partnership also strengthens the development of Teaching Industry at DKV UM, where students can engage in real-world projects related to visual communication design. This practical experience enhances their technical skills and prepares them for challenges in the professional world. These projects also encourage innovation in creating design solutions that support sustainable urban development.

Additionally, the collaboration supports the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes education, research, and community service. Through joint research and community service projects, this partnership has the potential to produce innovative solutions that can help create more sustainable cities and settlements.

The partnership also opens opportunities for building a strong professional network for students and faculty. Access to training, workshops, and seminars from collaboration partners will enhance their competencies and competitiveness in the global market.

By focusing on this collaboration, DKV UM reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the creation of sustainable cities and settlements through high-quality visual communication design education. Through synergy with ISI Denpasar and Studio Brownbag, DKV UM aims to create an innovative and relevant educational environment that addresses the challenges of urbanization. This initiative not only improves the quality of education at DKV UM but also makes a significant contribution to the development of more inclusive, safe, and sustainable cities in Indonesia.
