Productive Lectures: Strategies for Producing Work and Contributing to Academic Fields

On May 6, 2024, the Department of Indonesian Literature, State University of Malang, held a Productive Lecture event on “Strategies for Producing Fiction and Nonfiction Works and Contributing to the Academic Field.” This event took place in the 9th Floor Hall of GKB A20 and attracted the attention of students, lecturers, and writers from various circles.
The speakers at this event were prominent figures in the literary and academic fields. First, Prof. Khundaru Saddhono from Sebelas Maret University, an author and academic known for his contributions to contemporary Indonesian fiction literature, shared his extensive experience in the creative process of writing fiction and strategies for developing deep and memorable stories.
Then, Dr. Imam Agus Basuki from the State University of Malang, an expert in nonfiction writing and journalism, provided insights on how to write informative and weighty nonfiction pieces. He also discussed the importance of in-depth research in supporting academic work in literature and humanities.
Lastly, Assoc. Prof. Norhayati Binti Ab Rahman from Universiti Malaya attended as a representative from abroad, bringing an international perspective on the importance of global literacy in literary works. Her insights into how literature can contribute to enriching thinking and building intellectual networks at the international level were genuinely enlightening.
The event offered presentation sessions from the speakers, discussions, and active interactions between participants and speakers. The discussions were well guided to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences among the participants, who consisted of literature students, lecturers, researchers, and writers who wanted to hone their skills in writing both fiction and nonfiction.
This Productive Lecture was a resounding success, creating an inspiring learning atmosphere that left the participants motivated and eager to apply the various strategies they learned to produce quality literary works and contribute to the development of science and literature.
