Malang, 3 July 2024 – The 18th Mahrojan Araby, held by HMD Arabic, State University of Malang (UM), entered its third day with the excitement of the Tilawah Ghina’ Araby competition. Followed by 19 participants from various regions, this competition was divided into two stages: preliminary round and final round.
In the preliminary round which took place from 24 to 28 July 2024, the participants sent videos of their recitations. Of the 19 participants, 5 participants were selected to advance to the final round which was held online via Zoom at the Arabic Literature SAC, UM Joint Lecture Building.
The atmosphere in the final round was tense but full of enthusiasm. The participants showed their best abilities in reading the Al-Qur’an melodiously and passionately. Their performance was assessed by a panel of judges who were competent in the field of recitation.
For Muhammad Zaky Ar-Rosyidi, UM representative, Mahrojan Araby was a valuable new experience. “Alhamdulillah, I am very grateful to be able to take part in Mahrojan Araby this year. This is a special opportunity to meet talented qori’ from all regions,” he said.
Even though he is used to a regular training schedule, Zaky admitted that he needed special preparation for Mahrojan this time. “Even though the competition is online, there is still a feeling of nervousness and tension. However, I am happy to be able to give my best and meet new friends,” he added.
The Ghina’ Araby Tilawah Competition is one of the various competitions held in Mahrojan Araby. This festival aims to increase students’ interest and ability in Arabic, as well as strengthen ties between students who love Arabic throughout Indonesia.
18th Mahrojan Araby: The Spirit of Fostering the Young Generation’s Love of the Koran and the Arabic Language
Apart from being a competition event, Mahrojan Araby is also a forum for students to learn from each other and share knowledge about Arabic language and Islamic culture. It is hoped that through Mahrojan Araby, the younger generation will be increasingly motivated to learn Arabic and understand Islamic values better. This festival is also proof of UM’s commitment to preserving Arab and Islamic culture in Indonesia.
