SDG 4
From January 2-8, 2024, Visual Communication Design (DKV) students at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) held a thesis exhibition titled “Promoting SDG 4 in Art and Design.” This exhibition showcased the creative works of students, combining the fundamental principles of fine arts and design with contemporary approaches. This event supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 – “Quality Education,” by emphasizing the importance of inclusive, quality, and contextually relevant education.
The exhibition featured various thesis works including installations, posters, illustrations, and digital media. Each work not only highlighted technical skills but also conveyed social and educational messages relevant to current issues. Through an interdisciplinary approach, DKV students explored how art and design can be used as effective educational tools.
In this context, the thesis exhibition served as a means to integrate formal education with real-world creative practice. Students were encouraged to think critically and innovatively in creating works that are not only visually appealing but also possess high educational and social value.
The exhibition also provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and creativity to the public, expanding the audience’s understanding of the crucial role of art and design in education. The audience was invited to see how visual elements can be used to convey important messages and promote sustainable learning.
Overall, the DKV UM students’ thesis exhibition affirmed Universitas Negeri Malang’s commitment to quality education through art and design. This activity supports the goal by providing an inspiring and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to continue learning, creating, and innovating throughout their lives. Through this exhibition, students and audiences were reminded of the importance of inclusive and quality education in creating a better and more knowledgeable society.
