Literature Talk: Indonesia Malaysia in Comparison

On April 23, 2024, the Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang, hosted an interesting literary talk entitled “Indonesia Malaysia in Bandingan.” This event was held in AVA room D14 with the primary objective of comparing the literary treasures of Indonesia and Malaysia, exploring similarities, differences, and cultural interactions between the two countries through their literary works.

The event will be hosted by Dr. Sn. Indra Suherjanto, M. Sn, and speakers who are very competent in their fields. First, Dr. Dwi Sulistyorini, M. Hum from the State University of Malang, will bring deep insights into Indonesian literature. She will elaborate on the richness of Indonesian literature and its significance in the context of culture and national identity.

Meanwhile, as the representative from Malaysia, Prof. Madya Dr. Mohamad Saleh Rahamad from Universiti Malaya will provide a rich perspective on Malaysian literature. He will highlight the unique aspects of Malaysian literature and compare and investigate its role in enriching regional literary insights.

Through an open and fruitful dialog between the two speakers, this event will not only provide an in-depth understanding of the differences and similarities between the literature of the two countries. Still, it will also stimulate critical thinking and constructive discussion regarding the cultural relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia.

This discussion event will be an essential milestone in broadening academic perspectives on regional literature and strengthening the ties of cultural cooperation between the two countries in the spirit of cross-border cooperation to promote and appreciate Southeast Asia’s diverse and rich literary heritage.
