SDG 4 | 4.3.4 Education outreach activities beyond campus

The MGMP of the Malang Regency Arts and Culture Junior High School is an organization that accommodates the gathering of Cultural Arts subject teachers in Malang Regency. Based on the results of observations during the Batik Design competition held by the Malang Regency Cultural Arts MGMP previously, it was found that not all Cultural Arts teachers who teach Cultural Arts subjects have an educational background in Cultural Arts / Fine Arts, so some them do not have more knowledge related development of batik designs. The batik designs produced during the competition are similar to the illustrations. This is because students know how the concept of making the correct batik design still needs to be improved. Departing from the problems above, the 2019 PNBP service team consisting of Denik Ristya Rini, S. Pd, M. Pd,

Balqis Al Faraini, and Fajriah Etti Afmiati, offered a solution by assisting the Malang Regency Cultural Arts MGMP for one semester to develop batik motifs typical of Malang Local Culture based on digital patterns. In addition, it offers training and assistance on how to make digital pattern-based designs so that they can make precise designs according to concepts, as well as providing training and assistance on how to apply digital pattern-based batik motifs to final products—implementation of activities at SMPN 1 Kepanjen for one semester, one monthly meeting.

Of the 50 participants who attended the training, all were able to load batik motif designs with digital pattern techniques. Still, from the overall results, each participant had a variety of creativity, both from the idea of creating motifs, shapes composition, and giving colors.
