The official Instagram account of the Student Executive Board (Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa or BEM) of the Faculty of Letters, known as @sastrambois, has recently announced its visionary goals. The BEM Faculty of Letters is determined to embody a spirit of critical thinking, innovation, creativity, education, and noble character. These aspirations are firmly rooted in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, their guiding principle.

A Vision of Critical Thinking

At the core of the BEM Faculty of Letters’ vision is the cultivation of critical thinking. In an age where information is abundant yet often misleading, the ability to analyze, question, and evaluate becomes invaluable. The BEM emphasizes fostering an environment where students are encouraged to engage in thoughtful discourse and challenge conventional wisdom. This approach aims to develop their academic prowess and their capacity to make informed decisions and contribute meaningfully to society.

Innovation and Creativity

In addition to critical thinking, the BEM Faculty of Letters places a high premium on innovation and creativity. Recognizing that the future landscape is ever-changing, the board is committed to nurturing students who can think outside the box and devise novel solutions to complex problems. The BEM aims to prepare students to become pioneers in their respective fields by promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and encouraging original thought.

Commitment to Education

Education remains a cornerstone of the BEM Faculty of Letters’ vision. The board seeks to ensure students receive a holistic education beyond rote learning. This involves a comprehensive curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application. The BEM supports initiatives such as workshops, seminars, and guest lectures, providing students diverse learning opportunities that enhance their academic experience and prepare them for real-world challenges.

Noble Character and Ethics

Equally important is the cultivation of noble character and ethics. The BEM Faculty of Letters is dedicated to developing individuals who excel academically and possess strong moral principles. By instilling values such as integrity, respect, and empathy, the board aims to produce graduates who are skilled professionals and responsible and ethical citizens. This commitment to character building is crucial in shaping leaders who can navigate the complexities of the modern world with wisdom and compassion.

Guided by the Tri Dharma of Higher Education

The vision of the BEM Faculty of Letters is firmly anchored in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which comprises education, research, and community service. This triad is a comprehensive framework for the board’s initiatives and objectives.

  1. Education: As previously highlighted, the BEM emphasizes a well-rounded education that fosters critical thinking, innovation, and creativity. The goal is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for personal and professional development.
  2. Research: The BEM encourages students to engage in research activities that contribute to the advancement of knowledge. The board aims to cultivate a culture of inquiry and discovery by supporting research projects and facilitating access to academic resources.
  3. Community Service: Understanding the importance of giving back to society, the BEM promotes various community service initiatives. These programs benefit the community and provide students with valuable experiences that enhance their social awareness and civic responsibility.

The vision the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Letters (@sastrambois) announced reflects a comprehensive and forward-thinking approach to higher education. By prioritizing critical thinking, innovation, creativity, education, and noble character and adhering to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, the BEM Faculty of Letters is committed to shaping well-rounded individuals ready to make significant contributions to society. This vision not only sets a high standard for the present student body but also lays a solid foundation for future generations to build upon.
