The official Instagram account of the Faculty of Letters Student Executive Board (Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Fakultas Sastra, or BEMFA Sastra), @sastrambois, recently unveiled the philosophy behind their logo. The emblem, depicting an owl, is rich in symbolism and reflects the core values and vision of BEMFA Sastra. Each element of the owl logo has been thoughtfully designed to represent various aspects of the Faculty of Letters and the mission of its student executive board.
Five Feathers: The Pillars of Academic Diversity
The logo features five distinct feathers, each representing one of the five departments within the Faculty of Letters. These feathers symbolize the diversity and comprehensive nature of the faculty’s academic offerings. The departments, each with its unique focus and expertise, come together to create a holistic educational environment. This unity in diversity is a cornerstone of the faculty’s philosophy, fostering a collaborative and inclusive academic community.
Ascending Eyebrows: The Consistent Vision and Mission
The owl’s eyebrows are depicted as rising upwards, a design choice that signifies the unwavering vision and mission of BEMFA Sastra. This upward trajectory embodies the board’s commitment to continual improvement and progress. It reflects their dedication to guiding the Faculty of Letters towards achieving its strategic goals and maintaining a standard of excellence. The consistent vision and mission ensure that all actions and initiatives undertaken by BEMFA Sastra are aligned with their overarching objectives.
Sharp Eyes: Precision and Determination
The sharp eyes of the owl in the logo symbolize the precision and determination of BEMFA Sastra. Just as an owl uses its keen eyesight to navigate and hunt effectively, BEMFA Sastra employs a meticulous and determined approach to address challenges and oversee the faculty’s activities. This sharpness represents their ability to analyze situations critically, make informed decisions, and implement solutions accurately and confidently.
Pointed Beak: Problem-Solving Prowess
The owl’s pointed beak in the logo is a metaphor for BEMFA Sastra’s problem-solving abilities. The beak’s conical shape signifies the board’s readiness and efficiency in tackling issues that arise within the Faculty of Letters. Whether these challenges are academic, administrative, or social, BEMFA Sastra is equipped to handle them with skill and decisiveness. This element of the logo highlights their proactive approach to ensuring the smooth operation of the faculty.
Upward-Flying Wings: Support and Guidance
The wings of the owl, depicted as flying upwards, represent BEMFA Sastra’s role in supporting and guiding the departmental student organizations known as Himpunan Mahasiswa Departemen (HMD). These wings symbolize the board’s commitment to providing continuous support, fostering development, and encouraging the growth of these organizations. By doing so, BEMFA Sastra ensures that all student bodies within the faculty thrive and contribute positively to the academic community.
Three Tail Feathers: The Tri Dharma of Higher Education
The three tail feathers in the logo stand for the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, the three fundamental principles of higher education in Indonesia: teaching, research, and community service. These feathers embody BEMFA Sastra’s dedication to upholding these principles in all their endeavors. The Tri Dharma serves as a guiding framework for the board’s activities, ensuring that their initiatives contribute to the academic, scientific, and social development of the faculty and its students.
The Faculty of Letters Student Executive Board’s logo is more than just a visual identifier; it symbolizes their values, mission, and commitment to the faculty. Each element of the owl logo has been carefully chosen to reflect BEMFA Sastra’s role and aspirations. From the representation of the faculty’s departments to the embodiment of the Tri Dharma principles, the logo serves as a testament to the board’s dedication to fostering a dynamic, inclusive, and forward-thinking academic community. Through this emblem, BEMFA Sastra communicates its resolve to lead with precision, support its student organizations, and contribute meaningfully to the broader goals of higher education.
