Independent Study (MSIB) in PT Arkatama Multi Solusindo

MSIB (Magang dan Studi Independen Bersertifikat), or independent study in my case, is one of the programs from Kampus Merdeka. This program is for Indonesia’s undergraduate students who are at least in the 5th semester. Independent study is a learning activity under the care of a company, and PT Arkatama Multi Solusindo is the company I learned from. Arkatama is a company that specializes in digital work, such as custom application development, digital marketing services, and the like. According to the Kampus Merdeka website, the learning activity started on February 16, 2023, and will end on June 30, 2023. In Arkatama, I learned about Digital Marketing synchronously through a Zoom meeting twice a week. There is also a weekly mentoring session to monitor our understanding of the material and the like. For the rest of the busy days, we used to do the assignments given in the previous class.

At the beginning of the meeting, we were given a learning syllabus describing the Independent Study activities. The syllabus includes the schedule, material, and some things related to the expected target for the day. The synchronous meeting for my class (Digital Marketing 4) originally happened on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. However, if there is any special occasion or problem, the course will be held on the next available day. Since the scheme is digital marketing, we learned much about marketing and promotion on social media and website development regarding our business idea. By that, we are supposed to understand and be able to operate and optimize our social platform so that the content is easy to find. Many of us students will be able to optimize the promotion platforms and have our own business. Hence, the study might help economic growth because this program supports our productivity in marketing society. 

The remarkable tasks from this independent study are developing a website and social media and indexing articles to Google Search Console. We got a recommendation from the tutor to make the website using WordPress since it is free and easy to use. Then, we have to install some plugins to help with the optimization. For instance, header and footer to connect the website and analytics, Yoast SEO to help us make an article SEO friendly and easy to read. The next task was indexing articles to Google Search Console. Before we copy the link, we have to make the article first. The article was about anything related to our business idea, such as tutorials, tips, or product recommendations. To make the article SEO-friendly, we have to use a Yoast SEO plugin to help analyze the unsuitable parts of the text. When most analysis results turn green, the piece is SEO-friendly and ready to post. After the report is prepared, we have to add the link to Google Search Console so that it can exist in the search page results. Social media development was also remarkable because we were already familiar with some. We have to make a business account on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube to see how it feels to be a business owner. We also learned to do the steps on marketing paid on the platform. However, we were not obligated to pay for the ads since many of us only have business ideas.
