Together with the PUPRPKP Office of Malang City, UM Students are Involved in the Archive Arrangement Project
Four students of the S1 Library Science Study Program with a concentration in archiving specialization at the Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang, were involved in an archive arrangement project at the Malang City Public Works, Spatial Planning and Settlement Areas Office (DPUPRPKP). This project activity is part of Indonesia’s Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program of the Ministry of Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). The curriculum demands gave rise to the idea of the four UM Faculty of Letters students, namely Krisdiyanto, Jihan Enjelika Nadya Sari, Kurnia Bowo Laksono, Mellyana Insani Hasanah, to carry out MBKM internships at DPUPRPKP Malang City. The PUPRPKP Office of Malang City is located at Jl. Bingkil No.1, Ciptomulyo, Kec. Sukun, Malang City, East Java 65148. The MBKM Independent Internship is implemented for one semester, starting from determining the MBKM internship location in December 2022. After selecting the right internship location based on the required competencies, the internship began from January 24, 2022, to May 20, 2022. Four students interned at DPUPRPKP Malang City to apply the theory obtained in lectures and implemented directly in MBKM independent internship activities. In addition, the MBKM Independent Internship activity established a good relationship between the State University of Malang Library Science Study Program and the PUPRPKP Office of Malang City.
During the implementation of the MBKM independent internship, I was assisted by Mr. Syamsul Islam as the coordinator in charge of managing the archives of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Areas (DPUPRPKP) Malang City.

In the first week of implementing the MBKM independent internship in the Archive Room of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Housing and Settlement Areas (DPUPRPKP) Malang City, four UM students grouped archives based on the year the archive activity was carried out. This activity begins with sorting old archives stored in the Archive Room for a long time. Sorting archives based on the year of training is done to find crucial information for each year contained in the library. After grouping the archives based on the year of activity, four UM students grouped the archives based on the field of activity implementation. Grouping archives were found on the implementing field in question: the Bina Marga field, Cipta Karya Field, Spatial Planning Field—residential Area Division, Secretariat Division, Finance Division, etc. The primary purpose of sorting archives based on the implementation of activities is to facilitate the archive retrieval system.
