State University of Malang Faculty of Letters Lecturer Provides Innovative Learning Training for Eakkapap School Krabi Teachers, Thailand
The experience of teaching for one month at Eakkapap Sasanawich Islamic School, Krabi, South Thailand, made me, Fatimah Muthmainnah (S1 Arabic Language Education 2020), and my two partners, Moh. Faisal Fahmi (S1 Fine Arts Education 2020) and Luthfi Farihatun Nisa (S1 Arabic Language Education 2019) realize that several things still need attention in school learning.
Among the problems of teaching teachers that we feel during teaching are (1) Some teachers still use the lecture method in teaching in class, so students are often found to be lackluster during learning; (2) Some teachers are less interactive with students so that students are less monitored if they sleep, ignore the front, play in other classes without permission, do not take notes, and so on, (3) The learning media used are less varied, relying on books and blackboards, so students are less honed in their creative spirit.
The training also explained the difference between Thai pronounces, which is different from English. The meaning will be different if the length and intonation are different in Thai.
Some of these Thai habits or speaking styles eventually have an impact on their English pronunciation; for example, they pronounce the word “invited” with “invalid” because they are used to pronouncing the letter “V” with “W.” During the training, Ms. Yusnita used English as the language of instruction.
