Seeds Planting as a Learning in Improving Literacy Activities of Elementary School Students
The Seed Planting activity is an outdoor learning activity aimed at increasing literacy, which is carried out by students of SD Negeri 3 Glagahagung. Starting from grade 3 to grade 6 who are deemed capable of receiving more complex material. This activity was carried out in the 5th week of assignment, precisely on March 21, 2023. The work program, named Seeds Planting, aims to improve literacy through learning outside the classroom, how it works by involving students by forming a science garden. The plants that are planted are chosen with the criteria of fast harvest and easy maintenance. This activity was carried out in the garden which is still included in the SD Negeri 3 Glagahagung area.
This work program was formed based on concerns and unrest regarding the food consumed by students and the nutrients contained in it. Another view regarding the fulfillment of nutrition that is very difficult is one of the causes of students’ reluctance to eat vegetables. This is also supported by the government’s concern about how to overcome malnutrition in children. in children. For this reason, this work program seeks to teach students to understand the importance of nutritious food, what is the selection of good food ingredients, and how they understand how to get quality food ingredients through plant seeds that they grow themselves. Through this activity, students also get learning opportunities and new insights which will support the continuity of their education. And finally, through this work program, students can learn about ensuring good food production patterns.

Before the planting activity takes place, students are divided into groups of 8 to 9 people each. The group is then given a companion, each group is accompanied by one student. The next step is to prepare planting media, vegetable seeds, not to forget organic fertilizer as one of the supports in fulfilling the nutrition of the planted seeds. So that the food ingredients produced later are expected to produce quality products.
