Teaching assistance learning activities are learning activities carried out outside the campus in the form of observations, learning tools, curriculum development, direct teaching practices and needs analysis, and accurate making in the educational environment starting from schools, educational institutions, learning groups, and community education that aims to develop teaching competencies of students as prospective educators.

Teaching assistance activities, as one of the activities in the independent curriculum, allow students to carry out learning outside the study program in teaching practice in school and non-school educational institutions. In carrying out this teaching assistance activity, students can collaborate with schools, learning communities, or other educational institutions, such as Diniyah madrasahs or Islamic boarding schools. This activity was carried out by Lukmanul Hakim, a student of the Department of the Arabic literature State University of Malang.

Teaching assistance activities are expected to be a means to develop abilities and skills in teaching in institutions and support the achievement of student profiles, and there are several benefits that students will achieve in this teaching assistance activity, including increasing understanding. About the educational and learning process in a school, learning community, or other educational institution. Then gain experience on how to think and work interdisciplinary so that you can understand the relationship between science in overcoming learning and educational problems that exist in schools, learning communities, or other educational institutions. And can gain experience implementing learning in schools, learning communities, or other educational institutions.

And the teaching assistance activities carried out at the Islamic boarding school are somewhat different from those carried out in formal schools, because when implementing in this islamic boarding school, students must be able to improvise the material taught because in islamic boarding schools it is more emphasized in the field of religion, then automatically students must be able to adapt in the material taught and also other uniqueness obtained when teaching assistance in islamic boarding schools is assistance when  outside of kbm in the classroom, many additional lessons are carried out outside the classroom, whether it is compulsory lessons such as Diniyah lessons or specialization lessons, therefore there is a lot of experience gained by students with this teaching assistance activity.
