Perceptions and Preferences of German Literature Department Students Against Online Assessment

           The Covid-19 pandemic has forced the world of education to carry out a digital transformation. At some universities, the transformation process can run smoothly. However, at other universities, digital transformation is a migration process forced to respond to the crisis in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The crisis gave rise to the idea of ​​Dr. Primardiana Hermilia Wijayati, M.Pd, to conduct research at the German Department, State University of Malang. This study aims to describe the perceptions and preferences of students of the German Department of the State University of Malang towards online assessments conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Primardiana Hermilia Wijayati chaired the activity that lasted for six months, from May 2021 to November 2021, at the Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang. The subjects of this study were all German students at the State University of Malang.

 Dr. Primardiana Hermilia Wijayati said this study used online questionnaires distributed to lecturers and students and interviews for lecturers to determine perceptions and preferences of online assessments. The prepared questionnaires and interview guidelines showed the stages of planning, process, and evaluation of learning. The platforms generally used by lecturers and students in learning activities are WhatsApp Group, Sipejar, Google Classroom, Edmodo, Email, Google Drive, Padlet, and Zoom. This platform has been integrated with various forms of assessment by lecturers to support assessment in the classroom.

      The results obtained from questionnaires to students and lecturers associated with student and lecturer perceptions of online assessments showed promising results. Dr. Primardiana Hermilia Wijayati, M.Pd said that online learning perceptions and preferences must involve technology that allows students to determine freedom in learning with their preferences and optimize learning activities through digital assessment platforms. The platform used is expected to contribute positively by involving educational media used by lecturers to determine student abilities and achieve the learning objectives set.
