The 2024 Indonesian Traditional Music Conservation and Innovation Workshop (Lokovasia) is a program organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) in collaboration with the Musike SJ Foundation. This activity aims to preserve and develop Indonesian traditional music as part of the nation’s cultural heritage. In its implementation, the 2024 Indonesian Traditional Music Conservation and Innovation Workshop (Lokovasia) not only focuses on the preservation aspect, but also innovation so that traditional music remains relevant to the times.
One of the important goals of Lokovasia 2024 is to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, namely gender equality. This is realized through the active involvement of participants from various backgrounds and regions in Indonesia, including from East Java, West Java, Central Java, East Nusa Tenggara, and Bali. This participation reflects the diversity of Indonesian culture while providing space for women and marginalized groups to play an active role in the preservation and innovation of traditional music.
In addition, this activity is also an event for students of the Visual Communication Design Study Program, State University of Malang to broaden their horizons in the field of traditional music art. By attending and appreciating this event, students can contribute to enlivening the activity, while enriching their understanding of the collaboration between technology, art, and culture. Lokovasia will be held in the gate area of Jalan Veteran, Universitas Negeri Malang on September 3, 2024, with participant performances taking place indoors and outdoors.
