SDG 5

On July 4, 2024, SMP Negeri 4 Malang hosted the event “Evaluation of FLS2N Dance Works at the East Java Provincial Level.” This event aimed to develop students’ competencies for the National Student Arts Festival and Competition (FLS2N) by featuring expert speakers from Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) and experienced dance practitioners.

The evaluation activity was designed to provide an in-depth assessment of the dance works prepared by the students. Sessions led by experienced experts offered valuable feedback on the strengths and areas needing improvement in their performances. The primary goal of this evaluation was to enhance the students’ artistic and technical skills so they could perform better in the provincial and national FLS2N competitions.

In addition to technical assessments, the event emphasized the importance of self-expression and creativity in dance. The experts provided insights into how to convey stories and emotions through movement and stressed the importance of originality and innovation in creating dance pieces. This approach not only helped students improve their dance skills but also developed their critical and creative thinking abilities.

The evaluation activity also provided students with the opportunity to learn from each other through discussion sessions and group feedback. By sharing experiences and perspectives, students could broaden their views and inspire one another to reach their full potential in dance.

The event also aimed to promote gender equality in the arts. Dance, as an inclusive form of expression, allows all participants, regardless of gender, to participate and showcase their talents. Fair and open evaluations ensure that every participant has an equal opportunity to develop and excel.

Overall, the “Evaluation of FLS2N Dance Works at the East Java Provincial Level” at SMP Negeri 4 Malang is an important step in developing students’ competencies in dance. By supporting this event, the commitment is to promote gender equality and empower all students through quality arts education. Through thorough evaluations and expert guidance, students are expected to achieve higher accomplishments and become proud ambassadors of the arts for East Java.
