On July 4, 2024, SMP Negeri 4 Malang hosted an event titled “Evaluation of FLS2N Dance Works at the East Java Provincial Level,” aimed at enhancing student competence for the National Student Arts Festival and Competition (FLS2N). The event invited speakers from Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) and dance practitioners to provide evaluations and constructive feedback to the students.

This evaluation activity was designed to offer a comprehensive assessment of the dance works prepared by the students. Through evaluation sessions led by experienced speakers, students were guided to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their works, and to receive suggestions and techniques for improvement from experts. The main goal of this evaluation was to enhance the artistic and technical abilities of the students, so they could perform better in the provincial and national FLS2N competitions.

In addition to technical aspects, the event also emphasized the importance of self-expression and creativity in dance. The speakers provided insights on how to convey stories and emotions through movement, as well as the importance of originality and innovation in creating dance works. This approach encouraged students not only to improve their dance skills but also to develop critical and creative thinking abilities.

The evaluation activity also offered students the opportunity to learn from each other through discussion sessions and group feedback. By sharing experiences and perspectives, students could broaden their views and inspire one another to reach their full potential in the art of dance.
