Quality education is the foundation for reducing social and economic inequality. One of the key elements in achieving quality education is the availability of textbooks that are in accordance with a relevant and comprehensive curriculum. The Working Meeting for Preparing the Revision Framework for Main Textbooks which took place on 6-8 June 2024 at the Aryaduta Menteng Hotel, Jakarta, focused on preparing main textbooks for various levels of education in accordance with the learning outcomes of the 2024 Merdeka Curriculum.

This activity is important which aims to reduce inequality. Inequalities in access to education often arise due to a lack of adequate learning materials. Well-designed, curriculum-aligned textbooks can ensure that all students, regardless of their social and economic background, have access to the same learning resources. This helps reduce disparities in learning outcomes and gives all students an equal opportunity to achieve academically.

This textbook revision framework preparation activity involved various experts and educators, including Dr. Wida Rahayuningtyas from Malang State University, who contributed to ensuring that the textbooks produced not only met academic standards but were also inclusive and diverse. Textbooks designed with the needs of diverse groups of students in mind can address learning barriers often faced by students from underserved communities. Apart from that, the preparation of inclusive textbooks also supports a fairer and more equitable learning environment.

By providing teaching materials that cover a variety of cultural perspectives and contexts, we can help build a society that is more tolerant and appreciative of diversity. Overall, efforts to produce quality and relevant textbooks are an important step in reducing inequality in access to education, as well as reducing inequality in all its forms and ensuring that every child has equal opportunities to learn and develop.
