On March 26, 2024, a Foreign Student Exchange focusing on Indonesian batik making. The event aimed to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Partnership to Achieve the Goals, by encouraging international collaboration between universities in Indonesia and China.
emphasized the importance of global partnerships in achieving sustainable development goals through collaboration and mutual support. In this event, students of the S1 Fine Arts Education study program at State University of Malang will share batik knowledge and skills with Chinese students. Through this activity, the participants not only learn about batik techniques, but also share the culture and values contained in the art of batik.
This international collaboration provides an opportunity for both parties to broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Chinese students will bring new experiences and perspectives that can enrich the learning process at Universitas Negeri Malang. Conversely, Indonesian students will gain insights into how culture and education in China can contribute to joint efforts in achieving the SDGs.
In addition, this event also strengthens the relationship between universities, paving the way for research collaborations, future student exchange programs, and other joint projects focused on sustainability. Through education and training, these universities can work together to develop innovative solutions that support sustainable development in both countries.
As such, the exchange not only introduced Indonesian batik-making techniques, but also strengthened international partnerships that are essential in achieving sustainable development goals. The event affirmed a shared commitment to work together for a better and more sustainable future for all.
