In commemoration of World Dance Day on April 29 2024, students of the Dance and Music Education Study Program, Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang held an activity entitled “Weaving Diversity Through the Art of Dance.” This activity featured various kinds of regional dances presented by students of the Dance & Music Education study program at the State University of Malang to welcome all campus residents who passed through the Veteran’s gate. More than just entertainment, this activity emphasizes the importance of partnerships in promoting arts and culture, in line with the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships to Achieve Goals. Partnerships are key in achieving sustainable development goals.
Through this activity, it is hoped that we can work together to create events that not only enrich cultural insight, but also strengthen relationships between various elements at Malang State University. Students are the main movers in composing and performing the dance, while the faculty provides guidance and support in the preparation process. The active participation of the entire campus community in this activity reflects the collaborative spirit needed to achieve common goals.
Organizing this event is also a platform to foster a sense of togetherness and solidarity. Through dance, a universal and inclusive medium, all parties can contribute to and enjoy the beauty of Indonesian culture. Thus, this event not only preserves cultural heritage, but also strengthens a sense of collective ownership and responsibility in promoting arts and culture.
This activity underscores the importance of collaboration in building sustainable communities. Through a solid partnership between students of the Dance & Music Education study program at the State University of Malang, this can be an example of how good collaboration can enrich academic and cultural experiences, as well as support the achievement of the SDGs. By continuing to strengthen these partnerships, we can ensure that our cultural heritage continues to live and thrive, and benefit future generations.
