Successful HMD SASJER 2024 OPREC: Participant Enthusiasm and Organizational Innovation

State University of Malang’s German Literature Department Student Association (HMD Sastra Jerman) held its annual Open Recruitment (OPREC) to find new members. The event successfully allowed students to showcase their talents, interests, and leadership abilities. 

OPREC 2024 was interesting as it combined online and offline activities. Rafli Ahmad Anando, Chair of HMD German Literature, stated that although similar to the previous year, there were differences in the location and time of the interviews. This year, the interviews were conducted online in AVA, while last year, they were in the hall of building B3.

OPREC consisted of three sessions: an online interview session on the 11th, a room training in the secretariat of ORMAWA BEM Faculty, and an outdoor training in the courtyard of C9. Rafli mentioned that although there were no significant obstacles, the pressure to ensure the event did not interfere with lectures remained. Therefore, the event was held before the lectures started.

Although there were technical problems in the online interview and the lateness of the speakers in the training room, the committee managed to overcome them well. The Chief Executive of OPREC 2024, Nur Waiduri Khalishah, revealed that the committee team could overcome all obstacles well.

This year’s OPREC provided many benefits and valuable experiences for participants. Felizha Aurora, one of the participants, mentioned that she learned about time management and organization. The experience of improvising in an impromptu drama was particularly memorable for her, showing the development of talent from the activity. The high enthusiasm of the participants gives great hope for next year’s OPREC, which is expected to be more exciting and enjoyable.

Overall, OPREC 2024 was successful in helping HMD German Literature find qualified new prospective members, providing opportunities to learn, adapt, and gain valuable experience in organizational activities.
