Malang, 02 June 2024 – In order to practice knowledge and serve the community, all students of the Department of Arabic Literature Batch 2023, Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang (FS UM) have completed a community service and social service program called HAMAMAH (Khidmah Ijtima’iyyah Lil Ummah) in Gondowangi Village, Wagir Kab. Malang. This community service programme is an opportunity for students to go directly to the field and contribute to various community empowerment programmes initiated by HMD Arabic Literature. The HAMAMAH agenda, which involved all DSA students in Batch 2023, included teaching several TPQs and elementary schools, distributing aid to people in need, organising community administration, collaborating with the community at Tabligh Akbar and Clean Village events, and making village profile videos. These students are also equipped with experience in collecting donations and finding donors to support HAMAMAH programmes. The HAMAMAH programme in Gondowangi Village is a concrete example of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely education, research and community service. With this programme, it is hoped that the Arabic Literature students of Batch 2023 of State University of Malang can become agents of social change who are competent, have integrity, and have concern for others.
