Folklore has cultural and economic value

The Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, Faculty of Letters (BSI-FS), State University of Malang (UM) held a training on research and writing folklore. The event took place at GKB A20, 2nd floor, on Thursday (28/10/2022), with the attendance of around 80 students.

The head of the Indonesian language department of the faculty of literature (FS), State University of Malang (UM), represented by the coordinator of the Indonesian language education postgraduate study program, Dr. Yuni Pratiwi, M.Pd, explained that folklore is an extraordinary wealth of the Indonesian nation.

Folklore is an extraordinary commodity, he continued. Thus, folklore needs to be treated, developed, and preserved, which is not only valuable in terms of culture but also valuable in terms of economics.

The event continued on the material presentation side, moderated by Dr. Azizatuz Zahro, M.Pd. The main speaker in this training, Yulitin Sungkowati, M.Hum from the East Java Language Center, explained that folklore research in East Java is vibrant, so it must be appropriately utilized.
