Implementation of Collaborative Research with Foreign Researchers from Malaysia: Prof. Madya Dr. Haslina Hassan
Malang, June 6, 2024 – Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) has once again taken a significant step forward in advancing knowledge through international collaboration. To strengthen cross-country research networks, UM has engaged Prof. Madya Dr. Haslina Hassan, a prominent academic from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), in joint research activities. This initiative aims to explore innovative learning strategies to enhance the quality of education.
The research, titled “Development of Corpus,” combines multidisciplinary expertise from both parties. This study is carried out with full support from UM’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM).
Strategic International Collaboration Prof. Madya Dr. Haslina Hassan expressed her enthusiasm for this collaboration. “I am honored to collaborate with colleagues at UM. This partnership opens up great opportunities for mutual exchange of knowledge and experiences, especially in project-based learning approaches that are highly relevant to current educational needs,” she stated.
Dr. Mohammad Ahsanuddin, S.Pd., M.Pd.I., M.Pd., the head of the research team from UM, added that this collaboration is expected to produce applicable and impactful learning models, both in Indonesia and Malaysia. “This research focuses on developing learning strategies that are not only effective but also contextual with the needs of the global community,” he explained.
Research Methods and Stages The research is conducted through several stages, including needs analysis, model development, and field trials. During this process, Prof. Madya Dr. Haslina Hassan will provide input based on her academic experience at UKM, particularly in competency-based curriculum development.
Additionally, this research involves students from the Arabic Language and BIPA study programs as research subjects. Their participation is expected to provide rich and in-depth data on the effectiveness of the developed learning models.
Expectations and Impact This research is expected to produce outputs such as guidebooks, international scientific articles, and workshops for BIPA and Arabic Language instructors. Furthermore, this collaboration serves as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Malaysia in the field of education.
“We are optimistic that this research will not only contribute to the academic world but also have a direct impact on improving the quality of classroom learning,” said Dr. Mohammad Ahsanuddin.
The research activities will take place over the next six months and will conclude with an international seminar to present the research findings to academics and practitioners in both countries. Through this strategic collaboration, UM demonstrates its commitment to continuing to be a center of excellence in the development of globally relevant knowledge.
