On October 19, 2024, the Library Science Scientific Forum (RUMILUS) held an online event with the theme “Libraries as the Main Pillar of Knowledge and Community Learning”. The event consisted of an article competition and an online seminar attended by various groups, including students, researchers, and library practitioners.
The main objective of RUMILUS 2024 is to raise awareness and knowledge about the importance of libraries in society. In the online seminar, expert speakers in the field of libraries and information discussed the strategic role of libraries in supporting education and community development. Discussions held in the seminar highlighted how libraries can be an accessible and inclusive source of knowledge for all levels of society.
An article competition was also an important part of the event, where participants were asked to write pieces that illustrated the library’s contribution to improving information literacy and access. The resulting works are expected to be valuable references for library development in Indonesia.
This event not only enriched participants’ insights, but also encouraged collaboration between academics and practitioners in advancing library science. With increased awareness of the importance of libraries, it is hoped that the community can better appreciate and utilize these facilities for lifelong learning.
RUMILUS 2024 is proof that even though it is carried out online, the spirit to build knowledge and community learning can still be maintained, making libraries the main pillar in the ever-evolving information age.
