State University of Malang student wins 1st place in National Short Story Creation Competition

Divia Citra Muliya Prima Saputri, a student of the Indonesian Literature and Regional Language Education Study Program at State University of Malang, recently made a brilliant achievement by winning first place in the National Short Story Creation Competition held at Sunan Ampel Surabaya State Islamic University. His short story entitled “1970, Juminah Wipes the Moon” managed to attract the attention of the jury and become a highlight in the competition which was attended by various universities throughout Indonesia.
Her short story, which raises the theme of a woman’s life and struggle in the 1970s, combines historical elements and deep emotions. Through the character of Juminah, Divia managed to portray the vulnerability and strength of women in facing the challenges of the times. The strong narrative and evocative storyline make this work not only entertaining, but also provides a reflection on the role of women in society.
Divia expressed her gratitude for this award and considers it the result of hard work and support from her lecturers and friends. She hopes her win can inspire other young people to continue working in the world of literature and make writing a means to convey important ideas.
Divia’s success also reflects efforts to improve literacy and language skills among students. By writing and participating in competitions, students can hone their communication skills, which is one of the important aspects of quality education. Through literary works, they can express critical and creative thoughts, and contribute to creating a better literacy culture in society.
Divia Citra Muliya Prima Saputri’s achievement is a source of pride for Universitas Negeri Malang and shows the extraordinary potential of students in the field of literature. It is hoped that this success can motivate more students to actively write and participate in various competitions, so that the world of Indonesian literature will be more developed and colorful.
