UMDC 2024: Promoting Innovation for Sustainable Cities and Communities through Debate

Universitas Negeri Malang Debate Competition (UMDC) is an annual debate competition organized by the English Department Student Association of Universitas Negeri Malang on November 10. This activity is a forum for students to develop critical thinking skills, argumentation skills, and global insights through academic debates in English. With the theme “Innovating for Sustainable Cities and Communities”, UMDC encouraged participants to explore fresh ideas and practical solutions in creating cities and communities that are environmentally friendly, inclusive, and resilient.

As part of efforts to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 11, namely Sustainable Cities and Communities, UMDC focuses on increasing students’ understanding of the importance of creating decent, safe and sustainable living spaces for all levels of society. Through this debate, participants are expected to explore challenges and opportunities in urban planning, environmental management, and community empowerment.
