PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
SDG 4
The aim of this comic strip design is to raise awareness and understanding of diabetes mellitus among individuals aged 18-25. In Indonesia, the number of diabetes sufferers continues to rise each year, and the risk is not limited to the elderly but also affects younger generations. Given that the process of developing diabetes can take several years, it is crucial to implement prevention strategies early on.
Through engaging comic strips on Instagram, the designer seeks to convey information about diabetes and preventive measures in an entertaining and easily digestible format. By packaging information in the form of comic storytelling, the goal is to capture the attention of young audiences and encourage them to take greater responsibility for their health.
The primary media produced consists of comic strip content on Instagram, designed to educate while entertaining. Additionally, several supporting media are included, such as X-banners, WhatsApp stickers, brochures, posters, Instagram stories, and Instagram filters. Merchandise like notebooks, mini desk clocks, refrigerator magnets, water bottles, smartphone cases, and glucose meters are also provided to reinforce the prevention message.
Through this approach, it is hoped that the community, especially the younger generation, will understand the importance of maintaining health and taking preventive measures against diabetes. This project aligns with SDG 4, which emphasizes quality education, particularly in the realms of health and social awareness. Consequently, this initiative aims to contribute to better public health outcomes.
