On June 28, 2021-December 28, 2021, the Mandiri Internship MBKM activity was carried out at the PT. Kapal Mini Indonesia. This activity was carried out by a student majoring in English Literature, at the State University of Malang, Ayu Saraswati. PT. Kapal Mini Indonesia is engaged in shipping, mainly ship rental services for the transportation of goods, ranging from cargo, and cement, to crude oil (Crude Palm Oil). Not only renting ships as a means of sea transportation but also providing a crew in charge of operating the ship.
Independent Internship MBKM activities at the PT. Kapal Mini Indonesia is considered to have fulfilled SDG 17 and SDG 8. Ayu Saraswati was assigned to the finance department on 28 June-8 November 2021. In this section, she is tasked with recapitulating invoices and recapitulating accounts payable. When she receives the invoice to be paid, she checks the amount and quantity to be paid, as well as the completeness of the documents (notes, travel documents, purchase orders, and others). After that, all invoices that have been received and checked are recapitulated in the recapitulation of the debt used for payment. After that, all payment documents are scanned for recap and payment presentation. Her assignment in purchasing began on November 9, 2021. She was assigned to recap purchase orders and complete documents for payments to be carried out by finance. Documents in the form of tax screening, purchase orders, price quotes from vendors, price comparisons, invoices, travel documents, requests from ships, and information on receipt of goods by ships.
It is as people think that the English Literature department is not suitable for finance and purchasing because it deals with company costs, but there are many skills gained in English Literature courses that can be applied to finance and purchasing, such as critical reading, and translation.
