Malang: In today’s digital era, learning for children based on games has become a necessity. Arabic teachers must be able to teach by actively involving students in the teaching and learning process, including by using game applications. According to Edgar Dale’s cone theory, the more senses are involved in learning activities, the higher the learner’s memory of the knowledge being studied. Therefore, the State University of Malang (UM) held a national training which was held on September 4 and 5, 2021. The activity was the result of collaboration between the Arabic Literature Department, LP2M UM, and the Indonesian Arabic MGMP Forum.

The activity was opened by the Head of the Um Arabic Literature Department, Dr. Hanik Mahliatussikah MHum. “As a teacher, you have to move quickly to keep up with the times. Whoever gets it, whoever is slow he gets, who is lazy, he will be crushed and oppressed,” he said.

The activity, which was attended by 370 teachers and lecturers from various regions in Indonesia, did present interesting materials. The first material on the Use of Nearpod for Vocabulary Learning in Kindergarten / MI / SDI (Matching Pairs and Time To Climb) was delivered by Dra Nur Anisah Ridwan, M.Pd. The second material with the theme Padlet in Arabic Language Learning was delivered by Dr. Ibnu Samsul Huda, MA. Meanwhile, the material on the Utilization of Slido Applications and the Storyline Articulated in Learning was provided by the Chairman of the Arabic MGMP Forum, Ahmad Makki Hasan, M.Pd. The last material on the Utilization of Kahoot and Quiziz Game Applications in Arabic Language Learning in Elementary Schools was delivered by Dr. Hanik Mahliatussikah, MHum. Each material presented by the resource persons was followed by hands-on practice by the participants. The lively atmosphere and followed by many technical questions from the participants, showed that the enthusiasm and desire of the teacher to be able to take advantage of this game application was very high. At the end of the first day of training, the implementation team gave the task to all participants to independently implement the application of the game that had been learned. On the second day of the training, there were demonstrations of the practical results of the trainees and mentoring sessions. The activity began with the delivery of the opening material by Nadiah Farida M.Pd about the use of the Wordwall application in Arabic learning for children. The training session was then continued with presentations and demonstrations of participant representatives. The second day’s activity was even more lively because participants could directly consult regarding experiences when facing obstacles in implementing the application. The excitement of this training activity was also seen in several participants who managed to win the game and then received prizes from the activity implementation team. The committee closed the action with information on the willingness to provide assistance, distribution of certificates, and giving prizes to participants who had been active during the activity.
